Role

The main element of the role will be to provide engineering and sustainability consultancy support for new and existing domestic and non-domestic buildings. The role will focus on Environmental Design, Energy Modelling, Energy and Sustainability strategies for planning, Environmental Certification, and Commissioning/ Post Occupancy Support for both new and existing buildings and energy infrastructure. The team work with both public and private sector clients to provide consultancy services including master planning, energy and sustainability strategies for planning, building regulation and environmental assessment and strategic consultancy.

As part of your role, you will be supporting the team with direct technical delivery based on a defined project scope; however, you will also be expected to lead the delivery of some projects, requiring good organisational and management skills. In addition, you will be expected to contribute to the development of the business through involvement in writing fee proposals, attending project interviews and fostering business relationships with both existing and potential clients.

Responsibilities
  • Agree level of service and project outputs with your Manager for each project, including understanding the scope, timescales and target profitability of each project.
  • Attend project meetings as required and present findings/ progress
  • Manage the budget of individual projects including reporting to the management team on costs and progress.
  • Support, assist and deputise to other members of the business as workload and/or circumstances require.
  • Maintain excellent client and delivery team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities where appropriate with existing and new
  • Develop project proposals and attend project interviews and presentations
  • Maintain and develop professional knowledge of energy, carbon and sustainability technologies, processes and legislation and communicate the impacts to clients and project design teams.
Responsibilities - Technical

The successful candidate is expected to have sufficient knowledge and project experience to undertake a proactive role within the Environmental Services business line.

Technical responsibilities will include the following:

  • Energy modelling of buildings and infrastructure to evaluate feasibility and compliance against national standards.
  • Review of planning policy and regulations to establish energy and sustainability targets for new and existing developments.
  • Development of energy and sustainability strategies including financial
  • Design advice and modelling to assess building performance and indoor environmental conditions (e.g. daylight, overheating, thermal comfort)
  • Support other staff in undertaking energy surveys of existing buildings
  • Develop technical reports and produce calculations in line with project needs
  • Development of standards and ongoing assessments procedures review to continuously improve the efficiency and quality of the companies services.
  • Provide input as required on environmental assessment of buildings such as BREEAM, LEED, Ska and WELL Building Standard.
  • Provide consultancy a advice on sustainable issues including materials, water efficiency and waste
  • Overall tracking and monitoring of environmental assessment
  • Development of standards and ongoing assessments procedures review to continuously improve the efficiency and quality of Twin&Earth's services.


Qualifications/experience/skills

The individual undertaking this role is expected to have the following skills:

  • Have a good science or engineering degree
  • At least 2 years' experience in a related role
  • Working knowledge, experience and/or qualifications in building energy modelling packages such as SAP and in particular IES.
  • Have BREEAM Assessor qualification and a track record delivering BREEAM certification for projects.
  • Knowledge and experience of energy efficient building design and
  • Good understanding of the policy and regulatory landscape relating to sustainable buildings and building energy in the UK.
  • Good experience of front line (face to face) delivery to customers
  • Clear communicator - comfortable with presenting to an audience (both written and verbally) on both technical and non-technical matters.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines, independently and as a team member or leader.
  • Good experience of analysing data using tools such as excel
  • Highly motivated, customer focused and willing to take on new challenges
  • Ability to prepare and deliver compelling proposals in writing and in interview
  • Ability to contribute to team working and collective


Desirable skills/qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Environmental Assessments including buildings such as BREEAM, LEED, Ska and WELL Building Standard.
  • Good understanding of factors affecting occupant comfort including use of test methods (e.g. BUS) and modelling methods and software.
  • Qualified to produce domestic / non domestic Qualified as a CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant.
  • Knowledge and experience of ISO14001.
