Posted on Dec 11, 2018 by Manchester Airports Group (MAG)
Manchester Airports Group (MAG) is the country's largest UK-owned airport operator. Our three airports - Stansted, East Midlands and Manchester - serve around 60 million passengers every year. Our airports are multi-award-winning businesses responsible for directly employing, training and developing thousands of people . MAG is proud of its commitment to a healthy graduate and apprentice programme. These programmes give young people the opportunity to enter our business in position that compliments their career aspirations and offer industry leading training.
Throughout the two year programme, you'll rotate across key placements within the Engineering Services Team. Some possible placements include:
Project managing the delivery of capital projects, including the management of third parties and seeing the initial brief through to implementation.
Assessing the activity put forward by our assets teams and scoping the projects in terms of cost and time to complete so decisions can be made on which to progress. This involves working with key stakeholders in the development of solutions to business issues and options.
Support our long term development strategies, making sure our proposals for growth are in line with local and regional authorities' guidelines, policies, plans and aspirations.
Take responsibility for capacity / demand planning for an airport, undertake studies, derive conclusions and recommendations from data, and forecast what is likely to happen in the coming years.
Construction Health & Safety and Project Controls
Ensuring our projects are conducted in a safe and complaint environment, and making sure they are well governed, compliant with legislation and delivered on time and to plan.
During the programme, you will complete a number of 'back to the floor' experiences where you will be able to build on your understanding of how our business works and how Engineering Services fits into the picture. You will also get the opportunity to experience life at another MAG Airport by completing a placement at an alternative location.
A minimum 2:1 in a complementary or related subject with a strong numeric background is essential, and you'll most likely be aiming for a career in project management or construction management.
You'll need to be a confident communicator with the ability to engage with and present to stakeholders at all levels, and having a good financial awareness is important. You'll also be detail oriented with excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage your workload and time effectively in the face of conflicting priorities and timescales.
This role will close once we have received sufficient applications. Please note, you can only apply for one Graduate programme with MAG. It's important that you've achieved or are on course for a 2:1, as well as have the right to work in the UK as unfortunately we're unable to support visas. You'll also have to be prepared to work at other UK airports in the group, as well as internationally too.
MAG are a values led organisation and we are committed to providing equal opportunities in all areas of work and business. We want people to achieve their best, which will in turn positively impact on our customers and the communities in which we live and work. At MAG we empower people to be themselves within an inclusive and supportive environment, enabling everyone to achieve their full potential in line with their abilities and career aspirations. As an inclusive employer, MAG wants to see every candidate performing at their best throughout the job application process, interview process and whilst at work. We therefore encourage you to inform us of any reasonable adjustments you might need to enable this to happen.
