Personnel Supervisor Job Purpose: The job of Personnel Supervisor was established for the purpose of acting as a lead person in the delivery of human resource services with specific responsibility for providing information to associate employees regarding policies and regulations; addressing a variety of issues and/or providing general support; overseeing the maintenance of records, files and databases of personnel actions, and evaluations; and assisting the Human Resources Department in ensuring that personnel functions conform to all applicable regulatory requirements. The On-site Personnel Supervisor is responsible for performing in-depth human resources duties under minimal supervision and the nominal supervision of subordinate personnel. The On-Site Personnel Supervisor works closely with the manager to provide high level of skilled labor and ensure compliance with all company's policies and procedures. Job Duties (including, but not limited to the following) Plans and carries out policies relating to all phases of personnel activity: Recruits, interviews, and selects associates to fill vacant positions. Manages employee pool by hiring, retaining, reassigning, or terminating staff. Manages daily on-site operations such as headcount and check-ins to ensure staff's availability during work hours. Organizes and conducts interviews, performs reference verifications, and provides on-site tests to all prospective employees. Plans and conducts new associates' orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals. Trains new hired staff in line with company policies and procedures. Monitors and complies with personnel record keeping procedures (e.g. maintaining personnel files, applications, reference checks, etc) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established guidelines. Keeps record of personnel transactions such as hires, assignments and terminations. Investigates associate complaints, prepares reports for the Human Resources Department, and implements corrective/disciplinary action when necessary. Works with management team to improve safety and security of staff Responsible for completing work-related injury reports, and promptly reporting work related injuries to HR Department. Evaluates performance and counsels associates to improve performance. Recommends advancement, promotion or change of status of subordinate associates. Reviews and approves associates PTO requests. Develops ways to retain associates through motivation and encouragement. Reviews and monitors weekly payroll Coordinates with supervisors and management to plan activities for higher productivity on production site The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations Ability to learn and train on machinery needed for dock operation (such as forklift, pallet jack, etc.) Ability to organize and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner when speaking to staff and management Strong decision making, communication, and organizational skills 2 years + in LTL or FTL cross-dock environment preferred High School Diploma / GED Required, bachelors degree preferred.
