General Summary of Position:

The History Department in the College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences seeks applicants for various adjunct positions for the 2018-19 academic year. Adjunct Professors (who teach 1-4 courses per year) may be assigned to teach classes either on-ground through our undergraduate program or on-line through our Division of Online and Continuing Education. Courses are available in European, American, and Global/Comparative history at the undergraduate level.

Successful candidates will demonstrate passionate engagement in their own practice, research, and scholarly activities, as well as relevant teaching experience. The History Department currently offers a diverse array of courses from Ancient Greece and Medieval Europe to nineteenth-century Latin America and contemporary U.S. history. Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Applicants must have an M.A. in History, or closely related disciplines by the start of the appointment to be considered

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in History or closely-related discipline
  • Teaching experience in higher education
  • Prior experience with Blackboard or other LMS systems
  • Ability to teach one or more of the following courses:
    • Ancient Greek History
    • Women in American History
    • Native American History
    • Civil War & Reconstruction
    • World War II
