The Account Manager is an experienced client facing position that is primarily responsible for managing the day-to-day activities for a book of business and supporting the retention/growth efforts for the book. The AM works with the Sr. Account Specialist and/or Account Specialist in regards to reporting, preparation for renewals and communication materials.

Essential Functions

  1. Responsible for day-to-day servicing
  2. Responsible for Renewal Strategy
  3. Responsible for Wellness Coordination
  4. Responsible for referrals
  5. Accountable for day-to-day support
  6. Consulted on Internal Recordkeeping

Competencies and Qualifications

An ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • 3 plus years of prior account management experience with a health and welfare carrier or broker is required
  • Appropriate Resident Life & Health License required
  • Strong attention to detail, well organized and responsive
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with full-range of insurance related products
  • Comfortable with regulatory and compliance matters
  • Comfortable in negotiating with insurance carriers
  • Well informed about healthcare reform and how it relates to clients
  • Ability to establish relationships with the clients and carriers
  • Ability to model financial implications from benefit programs
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Ability to effectively switch between clients and tasks
  • Ability to identify up-sell opportunities
  • Lead basic client related projects and mentor team members
  • Assist in creating a multi-year overall benefits strategies
  • Develop new and creative benefit solutions w/guidance
  • Proficiency with Excel, Powerpoint, and Word
