Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday. We will consider part-time applicants.

Location: County Hall, Northallerton
The team base for this role is in County Hall Northallerton, however ability to travel across the county to deliver our service is required.

Are you an experienced operational HR Adviser with solid experience of advising on a range of HR policies and casework? Do you enjoy operating as a "coach" to managers to manage their staff effectively? Are you looking for a position within a diverse, innovative, thriving organisation?

We have a great opportunity for an experienced operational HR Adviser who enjoys the challenge of working within a large ambitious HR&OD service. The HR Shared Service Team offers the successful candidate a real diverse experience working with managers of all levels in a wide variety of service areas across the Council covering the whole spectrum of operational HR cases.

The successful applicant will need to have solid experience of advising on a range of HR related issues and casework, together with excellent organisational and communication skills. With the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with HR colleagues, managers of all levels, partners and stakeholders and use a range of HR systems, dashboards and information to identify issues and trends to aid decision making and work proactively with individual service teams.

The ability to support/mentor less experienced HR staff and the resilience to respond positively and effectively to changing priorities are also important attributes. Experience of HR casework and providing professional accurate HR advice is essential as you will be working on casework as of day one. Whilst this role is not right for someone just starting their career in HR it is an ideal stepping stone for those progressing their HR career.

Your caseload will include a varied mix of attendance, capability and disciplinary cases. You'll escalate particularly sensitive cases to Senior HR Advisers in the team. Operating as a "coach" to managers to effectively manage their staff and challenging work place practices where appropriate.

Although a temporary contract basis is also available, the size of the Council's HR&OD service does provide regular HR job opportunities and as we also deliver HR services to other organisations you might find that this is a great opportunity to join our successful service on a longer term basis.

Ideally we would like the successful candidate to start in early January and we will assess and interview applicants upon receipt of their CV.
