Western Bay is launching an exciting new Integrated Autism Service to support people with Autism in the region, in line with the Welsh Government Refreshed ASD Strategic Action Plan for Wales (2016). The team aims to:
*Raise awareness and understanding of Autism
*Provide diagnostic assessment, intervention and support services for people with autism
*Provide training and support to parents and carers of both children, young people and adults and professionals to increase their knowledge, skills and understanding

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced support worker from a Health, Education, Social Care background to work as part of the IAS multi-disciplinary team. The team will consist of a Service Manager, an Occupational Therapist, a Speech and Language Therapist, a Psychologist, a Specialist Practitioner, 4 Well-being support workers, along with one Administrator.

The team will provide diagnostic assessment and support for adults with ASD and support and advice to the parents/carers of both children and young people and adults. In addition, there will be joint working, consultation, training and advisory support for other professionals.

The successful candidate will offer support and interventions to autistic people with or without a mild Learning Disability or mental health disorder, in line with programmes formulated with service users and qualified team members. You will contribute to the overall support provided by the team, by providing support both on an individual and group basis to autistic individuals to empower them to lead ordinary lives and overcome the obstacles that may prevent them from doing so. The role will be working directly with adults on the autistic spectrum and indirectly with children and young people, by providing advice and support strategies to their parents and carers, both in 1:1 or group settings. There will be a need to build positive relationships with people who use the service and other professionals and play an integral role in delivering this exciting new concept.

Adopting a person-centred approach with individuals with Autism is essential so that they may be empowered to overcome obstacles and lead fulfilled lives. If you have the relevant skills, experience and passion for working with people with Autism we would very much like to hear from you.

There will be a central base for the team but you will be required to work flexibly across the Western Bay region in accordance with service demand.
