The Department of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies at the University of South Alabama (USA) is seeking
candidates for a 12 month, full time appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The
faculty position involves a 50/50 split in duties between didactic education and clinical education and is
integral in the support of the Physician Assistant Program and its accreditation. The successful candidate
will work alongside another faculty member in the 50/50 role of Director of Clinical Education to
coordinate the academic and professional progress of second year (clinical) PA students. They will
provide oversight of the clinical curriculum, supervise adjunct faculty with regard to the clinical
curriculum, direct End of Rotation Examinations, and assess and interpret data gathered during clinical
rotations and end of year summative evaluations. Other duties also include evaluation of student
progress, ensuring adherence to the departmental academic and professional standards, and instruction
of coursework in the didactic curriculum. The successful candidate will also participate in standing
departmental committees, maintain records as required by the program for accreditation, and conduct
scholarly activities consistent with the goals of the department, college, and university.

Both PA and physician candidates will be considered. PA candidates must be a certified Physician
Assistant (PA-C) with current NCCPA certification and current license or eligibility as a physician assistant
in the State of Alabama. A master's degree from an ARC-PA accredited program is required and a
minimum of 3 years of clinical and teaching experience is preferred. Physician candidates must be
licensed in Alabama (or license eligible) as an allopathic or osteopathic physician. Salary will
commensurate with credentials and experience.

The University of South Alabama is located on the beautiful Gulf Coast of Alabama just an hour's drive to
Florida and Mississippi and about two hours east of New Orleans. Mobile is a large city with a small
town feel and an abundance of southern hospitality. The USA Department of Physician Assistant Studies
was established in 1996 and awards a Master's Degree in Health Sciences after 27 months of both
didactic and clinical coursework.
