Job Description
The V.P. of Cards Acquisitions Marketing will be responsible for the management and oversight of Citi/AAdvantage Business Card (CBAA) acquisitions across all marketing channels. He/she will serve as the team lead for the Cobrand acquisition team with end-to-end campaign management, strategy, and execution of multiple projects in American Airlines' channels. This individual will also have oversight for Citi marketing channels including, but not limited to direct mail and digital. This individual will maintain strong relationships with American Airlines through day-to-day discussions in developing and negotiating acquisition strategies, as well as presenting business reviews and competitive assessments to maintain and grow market share
  • Responsible for program strategy and program execution including creative development, testing and segmentation
  • Expand and optimize product placement and universe in existing channels
  • Identify and research new marketing or technical opportunities for channel growth and work with internal and external partners to bring to market
  • Develop goals and channel aspirations to align to each year and benchmark against results
  • Manage channel forecasts and maintain a short and long-term forecast on accounts and expenses by channel based on changes to the offers, target, universe, and competitive marketplace
  • Manage the acquisition channel P&L, and work closely with Decision Management, Product Management, Risk and CFO to understand the metric drivers of the marketing channels
  • Own channel results and reporting out with reviews and recommendation in a timely fashion to impact rapid channel growth
  • Analyze performance data, competitive assessments, and present opportunities, risks, and recommendations needed to maintain and grow market share
  • Build and maintain relationships with key external partners, vendors and internal partners in product, legal, compliance, risk & decision management, fulfillment and delivery, etc. to ensure full alignment of business goals and leveraging standards and practices, where applicable
  • Manage external partners on new creative and channel expansion


  • The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 7-10 years' experience in financial services acquisitions marketing. A specific focus on small business bankcard preferred
  • A proven track record of utilizing segmentation strategy for account growth, be a self-starter who is able to be partner-focused while maintaining strategic and dive into the details while juggling and coordinating multiple projects with varying timelines simultaneously
  • Ability to step in to role and pick up programs and projects mid-stream and manage them to completion
  • Highly organized individual who can establish and successfully drive results against goals
  • Strong P&L proficiency, solid project and creative management experience combined with strong people leadership, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication is required
  • The ability to adapt to changes as well as thrive in a dynamic and continually evolving environment
  • Problem solver and analytical. Demonstrate ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with a high sense of urgency
  • Analytical skills required to report business results to management team
  • Experience in managing partner relationships and/or external vendors.
  • Travel required up to 20%
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred
