Job Summary

They are looking for a charismatic, ambitious and results orientated Assistant Accountant who is fluent in the French language to support the Finance Team working closely with the French market. In a nutshell, you are responsible for:

  • Year end audit management and statutory accounts preparation
  • Month end management
  • Tax compliance
  • Stock reconciliations
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Ad hoc AP and AR assistance

In more detail, this means:

Audit management and statutory accounts preparation

  • Being first point of contact for local accounting/audit companies (UK , France & Spain)
  • Management of the year-end audit, ensuring deliverables are provided to external teams in a timely manner
  • Preparation of statutory accounts alongside external accounting teams for all legal entities

Tax Compliance

  • Preparation and submission of VAT, PAYE, Sugar tax returns and management of in preparation of corporation tax returns by external tax advisors for all legal entities

Month end management

  • Preparing and posting month end journals, including marketing and overheads accruals and prepayments, FX revaluations, depreciation etc
  • Preparing trial balance and consolidated P&Ls and balance sheets for review
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations

Stock Reconciliations

  • Working with the Operations team to ensure inventory matches between warehouses and SAP, understanding any differences and advising adjustments where necessary

Bank reconciliations

  • Managing weekly and monthly bank reconciliations for bank accounts
  • Investigating anomalies and resolving mismatches

Accounts Payable and Accounts receivable assistance

  • Ad hoc back up for AP and AR team members when necessary; posting invoices, credit notes, debit notes and remittances.

Specific knowledge, qualifications, skills & experience required:

  • Either a finance or numerate degree and at least 2 years' experience in a similar role is desired
  • A part-qualified accountant or working towards being qualified would be advantageous
  • Native or fluent French speaker is desired
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong IT skills including MS Excel and preferably SAP experience
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, resilient, can-do attitude
  • Proactive and adaptable
  • A sense of urgency and ability to be flexible
