About The Team

The Public Health team is a small and dynamic group, aiming to improve the health of local residents through preventing ill health and promoting a healthy lifestyle. We work with teams across the council and partners throughout the borough. We are keen to build on a range of new and innovative work to further use the strengths of behavioural science to take our work to more residents who could benefit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on the design, commissioning, delivery and evaluation of behavioural insight interventions.
  • Advise senior management and wider council on application of behavioural insight to policy and processes and provide a leadership role for LBH on the application of behavioural insight.
  • Provide strategic social marketing advice and skills development support to members of the Hounslow Health and Wellbeing marketing and communications ('Marcomms') group.
  • Lead on the development and delivery of a public health approach for the use of digital tools to support and motivate behaviour change to improve health outcomes.

Your Skills

  • A thorough understanding of the behavioural science literature and how it can be applied creatively to solve complex policy problems.
  • Experience in leading and developing creative Public Health initiatives including campaigns and use of digital and non-digital technology
  • Experience leading, developing or delivering local government policy.
  • Experience leading and facilitating creative behavioural insights

Essential for The Role

  • Training in Public Health (preferably Masters in Public Health or similar)
  • Training in behavioural science
  • Experience in digital marketing
  • Experience in using behavioural insights for Public Health

This post is considered by the authority to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
