Senior transaction lawyer, manages legal support to large investment services outsourcing transactions in the UK and to major cross-border servicing deals in EMEA, through all phases of client pitch, negotiations, and on-boarding stages. Key role in the GS EMEA Legal team, based in London, engages with senior and executive management and with stakeholders across business lines and jurisdictions.

Role specifics (example responsibilities; please update as required by role)
  • Leading on all aspects of large outsourcing transactions, and complex UK and cross-border service arrangements, covering custody, fund accounting, investment analytics, collateral management and a range of ancillary services
  • Advising on the legal implications of regulations applicable to the bank's operations and/or the services that it provides, including financial services regulation
  • Leading on legal issues related to new business development initiatives, including negotiating and drafting heads of terms documents, attending client presentation meetings and leading legal responses in client pitch processes
  • Working with senior and executive legal, business, risk and compliance stakeholders to ensure that outcomes meet the requirements, priorities and deadlines of the business
  • Instructing and managing external counsel
  • Collaborate with and coordinate input from lawyers in other business lines and jurisdictions
  • Actively contribute to develop and enhance efficiency of client negotiation and on-boarding processes

Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 12 years PQE
  • Experience in leading legal positions with large custody service provider or bank.
  • Strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation, written and verbal communication skills, ability to formulate legal advice and positions clearly and concisely in a commercial environment
  • Sound knowledge of contract and commercial law and regulations applicable to investment services
  • Deep product knowledge of the product range offered in investment services (custody, fund administration, transfer agency, performance and analytics, collateral management, and a range of other ancillary services)
  • Highly solution-oriented, intellectual flexibility to work through complex issues with multiple stakeholders and to propose workable solutions within tight deadlines
  • Team player, ability to build good relationships with variety of stakeholders
