The master's level therapists in these positions will function as multidisciplinary team members at the Mayo Clinic John E. Herman Home and Treatment Facility, working closely with the clinical treatment team to optimize service delivery. Primary responsibilities include conducting intake assessments with residents and their family members; developing treatment plans and goals; implementing and evaluating appropriate evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions; providing individual, family and group psychotherapy sessions and facilitating crisis intervention, as appropriate. Opportunities exist for program development, research participation and professional growth and development.
The John E. Herman Home and Treatment Facility is located in Rochester, Minnesota, on the Saint Marys campus. It includes two residential recovery homes, with private rooms for 16 residents, and a treatment facility. The program is for adults with serious mental illness, including mood disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety and personality disorders. Treatment is focused around functional and vocational recovery and residents are scheduled to attend group sessions throughout the week with a focus on cognitive and behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and life skills. Residents will meet weekly, at minimum, with their assigned therapist, and will interact with other members of the clinical team. With support, residents will engage in competitive employment in the local community.
Master's degree in psychology or counseling from an accredited college or university. Training and experience implementing evidence-based psychosocial interventions.
Prior work experience in a multidisciplinary, collaborative behavioral health clinical setting, healthcare, residential treatment, and/or tertiary-level mental health setting. Experience working with people with severe and persistent mental illness desired.
Excellent organizational and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to function as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
Previous residential experience and experience with persistent mental illness with adults preferred.
License or certification
Licensed Psychologist (LP) by the Minnesota Board of Psychology, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy and eligible to practice independently.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,519.20 based on a full-time position.
Primarily Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm
