Firm Risk Management
Firm Risk Management (FRM) enables Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.

You will collaborate with colleagues across FRM and the Firm to protect the Firm's capital base and franchise, advise businesses and clients on risk mitigating strategies, develop tools and methodologies to analyze and monitor risk, contribute to key regulatory initiatives and report on risk exposures and metrics to enable informed and strategic decision-making. Background on the Position
The Associate role will reside within the Firm Risk Management's Model Risk Management group ("MRM") which plays a pivotal role in the development and maintenance of an effective model risk management framework across the firm which has received heightened focus from senior management and our regulators. This individual will work closely with the various groups within the firm, including but not limited to model owners in front office, risk managers, etc. Currently, MRM is looking for highly motivated individuals to review and validate models in any one of the following fields:
· Pricing models (e.g., Derivative Pricing, MBS, CVA, etc.)
· Capital models (e.g., PPNR, RRP, CCAR/DFAST, etc.)
· Risk models (e.g., Market Risk, Treasury & Liquidity, Credit Risk, Operational Risk, etc.)
Primary Responsibilities
· Develop independent review and risk management of models.
· Write high-quality model review documents that satisfy the firm's internal model approval standards, audit findings, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FRB, OCC, PRA).
· Work closely with other teams within the firm to provide regular ongoing model performance assessments.
· Assist with MRM's contributions to various management, risk, and oversight committees by preparing presentations and tracking deliverables.
· Present findings of review to various stakeholders, including: senior risk management, regulators, developers, and business unit managers.

Qualifications:

Skills Required
· Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., finance, physics, math, engineering).
· Exposure to and experience in financial markets, products and businesses.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be comfortable leading meetings and making formal presentations.
· Desire to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment focusing on challenging tasks mixing fundamental, quantitative and market-oriented knowledge and skills.
· Programming skills in a high-level language such as Python, C++, Matlab, R or SAS.
Skills Preferred
· Advanced degree (PhD or MSC) or relevant work experience for this role
· Experience writing technical documents
· Familiarity with SQL and VBA
· Strong organizational skills
· Familiarity with essential quantitative techniques used in financial and econometric models.
· Understanding of one or more of the following:
o Machine learning techniques
o Stochastic calculus
o Risk neutral pricing theory
o Statistical skills especially in the area of regression and discriminant analysis
o Data analysis
o Partial Differential Equation
o Monte Carlo simulation
