The Role:

The role of the Review Analyst is to support the analytical activities of the Ratings Risk Review (RRR) organization, including the Review Analytics Team. The position is designed to provide insightful data, analysis and research to Review Officers and to senior management. In addition, the Analyst will participate in Sector Reviews and Targeted Reviews, as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate as a Sector/Targeted Review team member providing analytic support on Reviews and monitoring activities.
    • Conduct data analysis to evaluate a variety of rating performance measures and develop key benchmarks for monitoring.
    • Identify performance anomalies, research causalities, make recommendations, and present preliminary findings to the Review Officer.
    • Research external market data and synthesize the results in order to identify key credit trends and Sector risks.
    • Assist in designing and performing macro tests to evaluate specific analytic attributes.
    • Assist in identifying suitable credits for Review sample selection.
    • Promote consistent use of RRR processes during Reviews.
    • Assist with planning, organizing, executing, and documenting the Review process.
  • RRR analytical tools and reporting
    • Maintain and enhance RRR's data, reporting and systems infrastructure as defined by the business' needs.
    • Develop logic for generating a variety of metrics and in preparing and executing data and logic validation exercises.
    • Liaise with data support groups to access and incorporate relevant data.
    • Gather data, reporting and analytical requirements from various constituencies, design relevant reports and actively seek and incorporate feedback on report design.
    • Develop and identify needed changes and innovations to foster effective RRR review methods and analytical deliberations.
    • Help develop relevant new metrics to identify outliers.
    • Work with Review Officers in establishing reporting on Review results and key themes.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree is required; a graduate degree or CFA is a plus
  • Proficiency with Access/Excel required
  • Proficiency in PL/SQL and VBA
  • Proficiency in statistical principles and their application required
  • Proficient knowledge and experience in various technological advancements, e.g. Blue Prism, Robotic Process Automation, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Python, QlikView, Tableau etc.
  • Practical experience designing and developing analytically-based applications/tools that are intuitive and applicable across RRR Sectors.
  • Experience in data mining, data warehousing, and data mapping
  • Working knowledge of financial markets/principles/instruments and credit risk
  • 2+ years relevant work experience in financial services industry
