Program Statement:

Lake County's employment & training service is available for youth who are ages 16 - 24 and meet the eligibility and enrollment requirements through the Lake County Department of Job & Family Services. Participants receive job readiness and job placement services. Each participant is eligible to participate in the summer employment experience and earn a paycheck. Youth in the program receive job coaching from program staff along with life skills training.

Job Summary:

The role of the Job Development Placement Specialist will be to seek employment opportunities for hard-to-place clients. Responsible for marketing, job development, job placement, and job retention for participants. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with businesses. Identify and locate jobs in the community that match the individual's skills, interests and experience. May instruct clients on job readiness skills including resume writing, interviewing and job search strategies.

Combination of experience and education normally represented by a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Education, Social Work or related field with 3-5 years experience in an employment and training system.
An active Job Bank is required.
Must meet individual placement and job development goals of a minimum of 10-12 placements a month.
Experience in job development with low income, disabled, dislocated worker populations preferred.
Experience in job development, job placement and job retention necessary.
Must be able to form good working relationships.
Must be organized, detail oriented and able to maintain client confidentiality.
Must possess teamwork skills.
Must have competent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work with diverse client population, employers, and community organizations as well as staff at all levels.
Good working knowledge of computers and familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
Must have valid Ohio Driver's License and reliable means of transportation for local travel.
