A leading insurance business are looking for a Compliance Manager to oversee the group compliance is controlled effectively. The divisional leadership team have a statutory responsibility to ensure the part of the group complies with the relevant requirements and standards of the regulatory system.

They also need to ensure that any delegation of responsibility is to an appropriate person and that they maintain effective oversight.

To avoid personal liability in the event of serious failings it is important that the divisional leadership team can evidence that they have taken reasonable steps to discharge these responsibilities.

  • To provide independent support and challenge to the divisional leadership team in identifying and managing risks to business objectives
  • To provide expert support, guidance and advice on regulatory matters
  • To escalate matters of concern

The role will be based around:

  • Review of higher risk financial promotions
  • Review of complaints referred to FOS
  • Guidance on the application of policies owned by group risk and compliance
  • Technical compliance advice
  • Guidance on remedial action required following material breaches, errors and omissions
  • Delivery of compliance training against identified needs
  • Responding to commission disclosure requests
  • Review of changes to standard documentation including customer TOBA's, scripts and system generated letters and reports
  • Review of sanctions matches escalated for clearance
  • Review product development and oversight activities
  • Review of compliance MI to ensure lessons learned/acted upon from root cause analysis - includes:
    • Breaches
    • Errors and omissions
    • Complaints
    • Conflicts
    • Gifts and hospitality
  • Review of MI used by the business to manage performance including:
    • QA results
    • Service metrics
    • Training and competence
    • The ongoing management of Appointed Representatives
  • Review of audit/assurance reports to ensure common themes are identified and agreed actions are tracked to resolution including:
    • Compliance monitoring reports
    • Internal audit reports
    • Insurer audit reports
    • Participation in formal divisional risk map reviews to calibrate residual risks against appetite and agree actions required where outside agreed tolerances
    • Participation in divisional governance forums considering risk and compliance matters
