The school is located on 2 sites, each have their own specialist support and facilities appropriate to the age of the pupils. The classes are small to fulfill all students' needs, and have classes of 8 children with 4 staff members, and you will be working with children in KS2.
You will provide support, on a one to one basis and/or as part of a team for children who show challenging behaviours. We follow a positive behaviour approach and you will need to be proactive in supporting the pupil in a positive manner. You will provide general support to the teacher including support and management of pupils in lessons, at playtime, leisure and lunchtimes and the preparation of teaching resources and displays.
You will have experience of working with primary aged children who have challenging behaviour, ideally those with severe learning difficulties. You will be Team Teach trained or hold a similar qualification. This can be a challenging role and you will need to be calm and resilient, and able to build positive relationships with the children. You will either hold, be in the process of undertaking or be willing to undertake an NVQ2 in childcare and education (or any equivalent or higher qualification).
