Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hpw)

Salary starts at £17,600 to £19,100 per annum rising to £23,500 per annum through performance plus Sleep In Shifts of £35.00.

This is a great opportunity to join and coordinate our dedicated team of workers who support adults with learning disabilities across Newcastle in CQC registered independent supported living services.
You will be responsible for developing and leading on providing person centred support to our customers. We want you to be innovative and creative when writing support plans, risk assessments and setting goals with our customers. You will have freedom to develop the support we provide to ensure we are promoting customer choice, aspiration and independence.
We will ask you to be involved in the customer review process and you will be confident in supporting the Client Service Manager in coordinating a multi-agency approach to overcome challenges and to ensure we are providing the highest standards of care and support. You will work in partnership with social workers, commissioners and healthcare professionals and you will demonstrate your knowledge of CQC standards and regulations.
So, you won't be sat in an office every day; a typical day when you are providing direct support to our customers might include accompanying an individual to a football match or to an important hospital appointment followed by helping to prepare a meal and updating customer support plans. You might then find yourself writing medication support plans, auditing files ahead of inspection followed by changing that rota for the 7 th time that week. But we can guarantee that you will have lots of fun along the way and you will feel rewarded every single day. You will really make a difference, empowering our customers to develop the independent living skills they need for a positive future.
Previous experience working in an Independent Supported Living service (ISL) and / or working in a CQC registered service would be very beneficial but what we really want is someone like you who has a positive can do attitude, who is enthusiastic and motivated; we want you to spread this motivation to the team who you will coordinate and we want you to inspire our customers.

About you
You'll be highly knowledgeable in effective safeguarding processes as well as having a sound understanding of the Mental Capacity Act. You will effectively challenge bad practice and lead on championing and promoting outstanding levels of care. Practical experience of administrating medication and working with adults with learning disabilities, complex needs and developmental disabilities is a must for this role.
You will need to be highly proficient at record keeping but you will also be involved in all of the fun stuff too; you will take a lead on sourcing new activities for our customers, whether this be joining a gym or finding a voluntary work opportunity. You will be able to devise weekly rotas and be flexible to change staffing requirements to suit the customer's individual needs.
You'll demonstrate great leadership - you will need to delegate tasks to the team and ensure they are following care plans. You will have great time management, communication and IT skills and be able to work well with others. You will be able to prioritise and manage your work load, whilst maintaining an accurate eye for detail.

Having the compassion and empathy to work with vulnerable people in a housing related social care setting is essential.

As we provide 24 hour care and support to our customers every day, you will work on a rota basis and take your turn working evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

While we will show you how things are done the Home Group way, you will need to hold or be working towards your level 3 in Health and Social care. Maybe you might have an equivalent qualification. We would also be really please, if you have experience of administering medications in line with regulatory guidance.

It's also important that you can work in holistic way building partnerships with external agencies and that you have strong IT skills too.

If you are successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we'll pay for.
