Youth Intervention Coach
Posted on Dec 12, 2018 by Streets of Growth
Streets of Growth is an outcome driven charity, working to transform the lives of the most vulnerable and at risk young adults in East London. We do not wait for the young people to walk through our doors, or to be referred by an agency, instead we engage and reach out to young people across the streets and neighbourhoods. Working to build a relationship of trust, truth and transformation with each young person, coaching and enabling them to support themselves to change negative lifestyles, move away from violence and harm, stay out of prison, get good jobs, and create a better future for themselves.
Over the last decade, we have developed a strong Theory of Change and a robust model for reducing harm and transforming the lives of young adults (15-25). We understand that when we ask young people to make difficult changes in their own lives - to put down knives/guns, to stop selling drugs, to show up at work on time, and become responsible adults - we too must have the courage to do things differently. We have learned that the only way forward is to focus on what works, to let go of what doesn't, and to hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards possible.
Now, at our 17 year anniversary, Streets of Growth is at a strategic point in its development and expansion of its high quality and impacting intervention work. To achieve this we are seeking individuals, who want to be both part of and driving forward the expansion and growth of the Charity, who are passionate about supporting emerging young adults to unleash their potential and talent and who, is open to developing their learning, skills, knowledge base and experience in the field of youth intervention and youth development.
If you are entrepreneurial in your thinking of working with young people, want to achieve high standards for the young people you work with and are looking for an exciting opportunity in which you can grow both personally and professionally then we would like to hear from you.
The position is initially for a fixed term 12 month contract and contract extension beyond the 12 months is based on performance in terms of practice and evidenced achievement with young people and funding.
