A Supplier Development Engineer with experience in sourcing andsupplier development experience (along with the knowledge ofQuality, Manufacturing and program management) is needed to play a key role in developing new supply sources to improve cost competitiveness for one of our clients in Ohio. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting issues with current production, developing new suppliers to reduce cost, managing capacity, and auditing suppliers to ensure process conformance to design intent.This is a solid, stable company that offers an opportunity to work on exciting new and advanced technologies. * Work withcomponent teams andsuppliersto confirm and improve quality, cost competitiveness andsupply constraints
* Assess supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, capacity requirements for TS 16949, ISO 14001 and other applicable customer and internal systems
* Support development of product acceptance/test procedures that relate to a complex process or highly complex product
* Act as a consultant to communicate and coach the Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and procurement organizations to drive cost-effective improvements to Quality and Manufacturing processes while minimizing waste
* Provide technical expertise and leadership to sourcing and development of suppliers with respect to technology, performance, quality, cost, logistics and delivery
* Support SQE leadership during investigations of major problems and or special projects focusing on developing working relationships with suppliers and the supply chain regarding product development and procurement of parts
* Support activities driving Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), customer interaction, supplier interaction, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) support, supplier component development and approval and supplier cost improvements
* Work with Engineeringteam to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements

For the first six months of the position, there will be significant travel (around 3 days a week) in the Midwest. From that point forward, the travel will be more occasional to production facilities in OH.


* BS in Engineering. Masters preferred.
* 10+ years of experience, with work in braking or safety equipment for vehicles
* Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment andsupplier development (dealing with customers and suppliers).
* Experience in Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and program management
* Experience in developing and implementing vendor qualification
* Knowledge of quality, business systems, manufacturing processes andengineering drawings
* Ability to take commercial and financial decisions
* Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
* Experience with cross-functional management
* Knowledge ofwriting reports and procedures
* Skilled in communication andnegotiation

Salary Range: $110,000-140,000/year, depending on experience
