About the area you'll be working in
From Finance and IT, to Marketing and People (HR) our support functions are the backbone of our UK operations. We may not deal directly with our customers, but we play an absolutely vital role in making sure that our customer-facing teams get all the support they need to deliver the very best service.
What you'll be doing
You will support the implementation and ongoing operational delivery of the Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR) across Bupa and ensure regulatory requirements are satisfied across the whole employee life cycle. You will ensure the business and People Function adhere to SMCR regulations and supporting policies, processes and communications are in place to successfully embed SMCR requirements. You will also act as Subject Matter Expert and provide 'expert' consultancy across the UK business, Centre and Global providing advice and support and oversee all pre-employment and in life checks for the SMCR population. Additionally, you will also be responsible for increasing awareness of the SMCR and developing improved organisational awareness and capability.
What's a typical day?
You will proactively manage and deliver the people related activities required You will also provide SMCR subject matter expertise across all employment lifecycle stages by acting as a central support point for the People Team and you will effectively manage the background and annual screening processes for candidates/ employees to ensure this delivers candidates/employees who are 'Fit and Proper' within the FCA/PRA SMCR regime. You will provides appropriate guidance to hiring Managers and applicants around complex application issues. You will educate and guide managers by developing and delivering a plan of engagement interventions to avoid and mitigate regulatory breaches. As well as this you will produce and submit appropriate reports to senior managers providing focused attention to compliance risk areas and coordinate the provision of FCA/PRA. You will manage the notification process (where individuals declare an event that could impact on their 'fit and proper' status) involving key stakeholders as required and work with Risk & Compliance to agree whether this requires notification to the FCA/PRA. You will need to maintain industry knowledge of FCA/PRA regulations and make recommendations / take action on any changes impacting Bupa.
Who we're looking for?
Subject Matter Expert on SMCR policies, processes and regulatory requirements
Experience of delivering SMCR projects and supporting a business in the implementation phase
Experience of the operational delivery of SMCR
Solid understanding of relevant employment legislation and the regulatory environment
Experience of working with FCA/PRA and the impacts on the end to end People policies/processes
Previous experience of partnering with compliance and risk to analyse regulatory requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a matrix structure and build effective relationships with senior managers/stakeholders.
Experience in managing stakeholders at all levels.
Prior experience in managing projects or work streams
Experience of leading teams to deliver service excellence
