Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / DELIVERABLES:
• Develop CAD drawings using SolidWorks
• Develop routers and bills of materials for precision machined components
•Develop quotes
• Review specifications and technical requirements
• Develop and prepare complete manufacturing processes for company product lines
• Determine requirements for equipment, tooling, and methods of manufacturing to meet/exceed the departmental goals of performance, on-time delivery, scrap reduction, and lead time
• Provide support to floor issues with respect to all manufacturing and assembly areas
• Utilize teams to accomplish improvement projects and facilitate teams to successful completion of projects, guide teams through the team building process
• Develop new tooling and fixturing for processes to increase efficiency, quality and capacity
• Support new program development and Design for Manufacturability reviews
• Develop manufacturing plans, process cycle times, routers, tool suggestions and methods
•Develop processes
•Outsource process
• Develop manufacturing improvements to increase quality, capacity, and profitability
• Recommend / develop improvements in plant layout and process flow to increase efficiency
• Recommend new machine tools and other capital expenditures
• Recommend / develop improvements in processes to reduce costs and increase capacity
• Participates in the procurement and start-up of new capital equipment
• Generate part programs for multi-axis CNC Lathes and Machining Centers
• Develop required documentation and provide technical support
• Maintain existing and create new CMM programs
• Manage new product launches and interface with customer engineering representatives
• Track new projects and execute to-launch timelines as set by supervisor
• Review new product designs and provide manufacturability
• Provide pertinent feedback to customers
• Coordinate training on each new machine tools
• Troubleshoot production problems
• Provide manufacturing feedback on product improvement issues
• Work with the plant management team to determine and implement manufacturing improvement projects
• Provide analysis and throughput improvements thereby reducing non-touch time throughout the operation
• Provide direction on rearranging the shop into production cells (low- and high-end work) along with prototype and low volume work
• Develop routers, cycle times, tool lists and methods

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot production problems
•SolidWorks modeling skills
• Sound manufacturing background (Processing, Programming, Fixturing and Tooling)
• Excellent working knowledge of SPC and Lean Manufacturing methodologies
• Excellent working knowledge of blue print reading and GD&T
• Thorough knowledge of common manufacturing processes
• Thorough knowledge of the use of engineering SolidWorks software
• Working knowledge of and Lean Manufacturing or 6 Sigma methodologies
• Must be familiar with and practice internal safety standards
• Familiarity with cycle time calculations
• Knowledge of materials machinability
• Knowledge of cutting tool technologies
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects/activities
•Strong analytical skills
•Knowledge of trigonometry
• Team coordination and communication skills Language, writing, verbal communication, and computer literacy skills
• Must be respectful and display a positive attitude
