Job Description:

  • Teach English Writing, Literature, or Reading courses in the English Department.
  • Courses may be offered at any of the BHCC campuses, satellites and instructional centers, including the Charlestown and Chelsea campuses, Chelsea High School Early College Program, Madison Park Vocational Technical High School in Roxbury, Malden High School, the Freedom House in Dorchester, and the Pao Arts Center in Chinatown.


  • Master's degree in Composition/Rhetoric, English, English Literature, Literacy or Writing required. Master's degree or Doctorate in an interdisciplinary field with core coursework in Composition/Rhetoric, English, English Literature, Literacy or Writing will be considered if graduate transcript(s) are submitted with application; Ph.D. preferred.
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population
  • Teaching experience required; community college teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience teaching African American Literature, American Literature from the Civil War through the 20th century, and/or the Immigrant Experience in Literature a plus
  • Experience with Learning Communities or openness to engaging in the teaching of Learning Communities preferred


Additional Information:

Salary: $1,104.00 per credit hour

Effective Date: Spring semester 2019; open until filled
