Are you interested in contributing to the free enterprise movement at one of America's leading think tanks? We have an opportunity for a creative, entrepreneurial, hardworking individual to help lead AEI's external affairs team. You will be responsible for marketing our work to and developing relationships with key leaders in think tanks, business organizations, nonprofits, community groups, and state and local government. The ideal candidate will be happy in an intellectual, detail-oriented, fast-paced, and creative environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include building and maintaining high-level relationships, managing outreach and communications to key audiences through our Leadership Network and other vehicles, overseeing the growth and maintenance of AEI's contact lists, and marketing AEI's scholarly research products and programs. This position will also plan conferences and events at AEI headquarters and around the country that leverage AEI scholarship, build new relationships, and strengthen existing ones.These responsibilities require demonstrated project management experience, excellent interpersonal skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, attention to detail, ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines, and strong writing and communication skills. Candidates must be committed to AEI's mission and understand the public policy landscape. The ideal candidate has 5-10 years of job experience.Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment is a must. Bachelor's degree is required. Experience with a contact management database such as Salesforce is a plus. The position will include regular travel, and the incumbent will represent AEI at outside conferences and events. The manager of external affairs will interface regularly with scholars, research assistants, and members of the broader AEI communications and outreach teams.
