Strategy and Propositions Manager - solar and batteries, London. Salary to 69,100 + car/allowance + performance-related bonus + nice benefits

This is an important opportunity with a leading distributed energy and private networks business who finance, own, operate and maintain energy infrastructure for commercial, industrial, public sector, and residential customers - providing them with a market leading project development service and certainty of operational performance and asset management.

The role

The Strategy & Propositions Manager is responsible for managing company s strategy for grid-scale solar and battery storage projects. She/he will work closely with the leadership team to develop strategy, approach and tactics for how acquisitions and JVs or framework agreements with developers can help meet sector targets.

This will entail gathering and using market intelligence to assess the current strategy, define acquisition criteria, profile potential targets or partners, and assist with the acquisition pipeline analysis and reporting.

The remit is to manage strategy for all grid-scale solar and battery activity, with support from and working closely with the central strategy and research team.

Reporting to the Head of Acquisitions, a successful candidate will have responsibility for ensuring company s sector strategy for grid-scale solar and storage is informed and relevant.

Key responsibilities

Market insight and intelligence: working with researchers, manage the development process of the strategy for Solar and Storage, distilling market insight and using this to positively engage with the business unit to challenge and refine the strategy.
Sector strategy: working closely with the Head of Acquisitions and the leadership team to develop strategy, approach and tactics. Part of this will relate to development activity, procurement, etc. and part of it to specifics of how acquisitions and JVs or framework agreements with developers can help meet company s sector targets. Ensuring buy-in is obtained from all relevant stakeholders for proposed changes to the strategy.
Acquisition and project development criteria: help define acquisition and project development criteria, profile potential targets or partners, and provide input into origination efforts aimed to deliver a balanced portfolio of sufficient scale and above hurdle rates of return.
Pipeline and strategy reporting: managing both planned and ad-hoc internal strategy reporting at all levels, ranging from the immediate Strategy team through to the Group Board ensuring timely delivery to allow peer and management review and feedback ahead of publication.
Strategy workshops: planning and delivering both planned and ad-hoc strategy and market positioning workshops as requested by senior management.
Team: the successful candidate will liaise with and coordinate a wide variety of support teams, stakeholders and functions (e.g. legal, technical, finance) across the Group, building an open and active engagement with all members of the team in support of the strategy development and origination. This includes communications with the central strategy team.

Essential requirements

We are open to considering candidates with either strategy consulting, business development, M&A, financial or legal/paralegal background, who are interested in getting involved in acquisition strategy, business development, origination, and transactions.

Experience in the GB energy sector, and good insight into markets (e.g. macro-economic and project specific value drivers, key players and competition, regulation, policy frameworks, technology, etc.)
Experience of strategy formulation and using associated tools and techniques, including experience managing strategic processes to secure engagement across teams
Strong project and programme definition and management capabilities to shape and drive forward evolution of company s strategy in solar and battery storage
Experience in renewables, including solar and storage strongly preferred
A strong team player, who exercises judgement appropriately, engaging with colleagues at all levels of seniority where necessary.
Strong interpersonal skills with a willingness to engage with the wider company s team, ensure that strategy is developed with support from across the team, and contribute beyond the immediate remit of the role.


Salary range 46,100 - 69,100 + car/ allowance + bonus and nice benefits.
