Overview of the IT Change & Release Manager role:

  • My client, a leading technology strong professional services organisation, are at the start of a huge transformation in how they manage and use data to drive outcomes in a host of key areas, delivering improvements for their internal and external stakeholders.
  • They have an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced IT Change and Release Manager to join the IT Department; the role will be responsible, accountable, and managing risks for the overall change and release process within the technology estate.
  • At a time of major and pioneering technical transformation, you will be managing and maintaining an established change management processes and designing a new release management process.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring integration with the other ITIL Service Management processes such as Incident, Problem, Asset and Configuration Management.
  • An excellent and vast knowledge and experience in release management is fundamental for this role.
  • In essence they are looking for someone to have the scope to shape and take ownership of the release management process from the ground up.

Duties for the IT Change & Release Manager role:

  • The creation, implementation, communication and management of change and release management plans, processes, and standards.
  • Ensuring changes and releases are controlled across all IT environments and that appropriate actions have been planned to minimize both the risk of failure and the impact on customers during change implementation.
  • Ensuring that the timing of implementations do not conflict with other planned changes or event acting as a point of contact for service and project related changes and releases.
  • Implementing corrective actions to prevent unauthorized changes while ensuring that all IT personnel and service providers comply with the Change and Release Management process.
  • Enforcing change freeze and maintenance windows in line with the demands of the business.
  • Ensuring all stakeholders are aware of planned changes and releases.

About you the IT Change & Release Manager:

  • Ideally you will have at 5 years experience in change and release management including deployment in release management process.
  • As you will have full autonomy to start and shape the release management part of the role, you will need to be pragmatic, positive, detail orientated, quality driven with strong communication skills.
  • ITIL foundation of any version is a requirement.
  • Experienced with IT Service Management toolsets (eg, ServiceNow, Microsoft SCCM).
  • Have a good understanding of a range of best practice project and programme delivery (eg, Agile, waterfall) with the emphasis on operational delivery.
