Our partner is seeking a Senior Software Automation Engineer. This role offers a hybrid work option for days remote and onsite at our Rochester, NY site.

What you will do:

Develop and deploy software for flexible, modular and scalable automation systems used in the creation of our products - for use in-house and at suppliers.

Assist in maintaining existing software platforms (in terms of functionality, reliability and performance).

Interface with other cross-functional teams as required on new system designs and continuous improvement initiatives.

Support new automated technology development initiatives and other critical projects.

Work with team lead and other colleagues to determine the labor, schedules, and equipment required for developing, testing and deploying automation solutions.

Manage multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to shift priorities based on company needs.

Develop reusable code for our internal .NET and/or Labview frameworks for production automation.

Create and maintain process documentation - including PM/calibration plans and procedures.

Create, execute and document test and verification/validation plans while creating and communicating technical final reports.

Collaborate with New Product Introduction (NPI) teams on design, development and deployment of new automation platforms and technologies.

Provide sustaining technical support (hardware and software) for legacy or new automation platforms deployed throughout the world.

Perform root cause analysis on production software failures, lead corrective action efforts and communicate results.


BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science

4+ years in software engineering and/or automation development

4+ years of .NET (either VB.NET or C#) and/or Labview

4+ years of designing object oriented software and successfully debugging and verifying functionality

4+ years of experience providing accurate software estimates with levels of confidence


Are familiar with any or all of these: Python, C and C++, or embedded engineering, DevOps

Are excited about software engineering in manufacturing/robotic automation development

Are willing to learn the use and application of automated instrumentation and industrial fieldbuses

Have strong written and verbal communication skills
