About the role:

We are currently seeking an IT Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Planning Engineer who will be responsible for managing the IT Disaster Recovery and IT BCP Policies, Process, and operation with the relevant operational teams in line with the agreed Service Level Targets.

As the IT Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Planning Engineer, you be working with other IT teams, such as Network Operations, the Service Desk, Applications, Strategy & Architecture, and the project delivery teams, you will ensure close alignment and engagement in implementing major developments and enhancements within the existing IT infrastructure.

On a day to day, your responsibilities as the IT Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Planning Engineer will include, but not limited to:

Disaster Recovery & Resilience.

  • Ensuring Resilience is at the forefront of the design for any of the new services built.
  • Providing input and assistance to project and testing teams, coordinating tests, alignment of relevant resources, ensuring that post-test reviews and reports, including actions, from Resilience & any DR testing, are produced.
  • DR & Audit Risks are valid, kept up to date, Risks status and actions are communicated and understood by all stakeholders.

Business Continuity.

  • Assisting in continuously improving the Business Continuity capability across the IT department.
  • Creation, review, and updating of the BCM and IT DR policies, plans, procedures.
  • Technical SOPs and runbooks are responsibility of technical/Support teams.
  • Assisting teams in BC planning, business impact analysis assessments, and testing of plans, and recommending suitable recovery strategies and options.
  • Keep up-to date with the latest relevant technology, relevant standards, policies and directives.
  • Liaise with internal governance and the relevant external authorities to ensure that we are moving towards an approved compliant infrastructure.
  • Identifies and acts upon opportunities for continuous improvement to reduce operational risks, optimise efficiency and improve standards.
  • Working with Strategy & Architecture & IT Operations Teams to ensure that that the infrastructure and associated management tools are both supportable and maintainable.

To be considered for this IT Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Planning Engineer role, you will ideally demonstrate:

  • Previous experience as either a Business Continuity or IT DR analyst (preferred).
  • Ability to demonstrate or build knowledge of all areas of work carried out within the department.
  • Previous experience of working with varied technologies.
  • The ability to impact and influence without direct line manager authority.
  • Experience of working in a Transitional multi supplier environment within a large-scale Organisation.
  • Experience of contributing to technical solution design and development leveraging existing tool suites and propose best of breed solutions.
  • Experience in ensuring that infrastructure conforms to architectural principles (eg supportability, future-proofing, consolidation, standards and strategy.
  • Demonstrable experience successfully challenging vendors on solution designs resulting in an improved product.
  • BCI qualification (MBCI, CBCI) or relevant BC/DR experience or equivalent professional membership (eg.DRII).
  • Senior stakeholder management with experience of working effectively with all levels throughout the organisation.
