WHAT TO EXPECT
Reporting to the Global Senior Purchasing Manager, this role will see you lead a team holding commercial responsibility for developing and promoting Jaguar Land Rover as a partner of choice for emerging technologies.
This will involve the development of relationships with a range of external organisations (including existing suppliers, multinational technology specialists, and start-ups), identifying potential suitable partners for emerging technology needs, and negotiating commercial terms for access.
This role is a core conduit for true cross functional working to promote the flow of innovation. As such the role interfaces with other key functions within Jaguar Land Rover including Global Purchasing, Business Development, IT, Engineering and Design.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
In this role, you will need to be responsible for the effectiveness of our relationships with suppliers and partners in delivering product and process innovation. You can expect to be working with engineering, strategy and commercial functions, identify gaps in likely technology coverage available from existing suppliers, and potential future partners with capability in these areas.
You will also be asked to develop cross-functional consensus on target future technology partners to meet these capability needs. As well as this, you will need to be able to build and develop a team responsible for the measurement and promotion of new product and process-related opportunities from our suppliers and other external organisations.
Responsible for all people management activities for the direct reports including the health, safety and wellbeing of the team and deployment and adherence to corporate policy (e.g. return to work process, disciplinary). Drive continuous improvement and quality improvements within the team in challenging existing practices and actively seeking ways to achieve better outcomes.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- An individual who is results driven, demonstrates tenacity, drive and perseverance, with the ability to deliver in a complex, highly demanding environment while being flexible and creative
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience
- Experienced in commercial aspects of new product introduction · Commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Disciplined in planning and managing interactions with suppliers / partners to drive maximum value add
- Understanding of emerging technology routes to market
- A strong communicator with the ability to effectively manage key stakeholders and influence cross-functional alignment
- An effective leader, who actively develops and supports team members
- A resilient and enthusiastic individual who drives new ideas and inputs
- Previous procurement leadership experience in relevant area (software, IT, intellectual property)
- Knowledge of the digital ecosystems and their impact on the automotive industry
- Interest in technology development trends
