One of our Blue Chip Clients is urgently looking for an Oracle/PostgreSQL Architect/Developer.

This is the R&D work - to prepare alternative Platform offerings (targets) in the area of Enterprise DBMS and migration scenarios from various Oracle DB sources.

The objective is to study possible PostgreSQL options, from simple PaaS in Azure, through EDB to the Big Animal (on premise and in cloud) and migration scenarios/process/tools.

This requires not only DBA skills but mainly the DB Developer skills to map the features, data types, code (ex. stored procedures) required to validate the migrations.

Here are the details of the job Architect/Database SME.

Oracle to PostgreSQL migration. Determine migration targets (type of PostgreSQL DB), scenarios and process/tools.

Strong database administration skills in PostgreSQL, EDB PostgreSQL, and Azure Database for PostgreSQL.

Assess source database (Oracle/MSSQL) code objects using the EDB Migration portal and Ora2Pg.

Identify and Fix the blocker objects to be compatible with EDB and Azure Database for PostgreSQL.

Setup the Target databases as per agreed architecture with the application owners (Single DB, EDB replication, EFM, Azure Database for PostgreSQL) on the Azure public cloud.

Migrate the data objects to the Target database(EDB) using native tools like MTK, Replication manager, and Ora2Pg.

Perform Database performance benchmark using PgBench.

Performance tuning expertise in PostgreSQL.

Knowledge of EDB BigAnimal (PaaS) is desirable.
