Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. Our nine major business lines include Business Banking, Middle Market Banking, Government and Institutional Banking, Corporate Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Financial Institutions Group, Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Wells Fargo Securities, and the Investment Portfolio. The Wholesale Control (WC) organization serves as the front line risk management organization within the Wholesale Banking group of Wells Fargo supporting the Wholesale businesses with risk strategy, implementation, and execution. The Wholesale Control team is accountable to assess and effectively manage risks across all risk types and Wholesale businesses delivering an integrated view of risks, producing a sustainable control environment, and instilling a culture of strong risk management. The team is responsible to identify and assess risks, design and implement controls, and execute and monitor the controls to ensure they are working effectively to manage risk across Wholesale. Wholesale Control interfaces with Independent Risk Management and Audit to drive comprehensive and consistent implementation of regulatory and corporate risk policies and programs across Wholesale.
Wells Fargo Commercial Capital Business Control provides operational risk, regulatory risk, financial crimes and business risk management services through an optimized model which leverages centralized functions and agile business focused teams to support sound risk management for the Capital Finance, Commercial Distribution Finance, Corporate Trust Services, Equipment Finance, and International Trade Services lines of business. The Risk Management team enables efficient and effective execution of Corporate, Wholesale, and Line of Business programs, policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with the overarching risk management priorities of Wells Fargo while meeting the unique needs of each business.
This position is on the Financial Crimes Risk Management Team within the WFCC Risk Team. The position will report directly to the hiring manager and work with the AML teams to ensure procedures and processes related to regulatory compliance are appropriate, risk-based, and adequately followed. A successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and WFCC business groups.
Individual Responsibilities
  • Drive customer documentation remediation efforts in accordance with Wells Fargo / Wholesale Banking standards in such a way to meet key regulatory deliverables.
  • Review Customer Due Diligence information for accuracy and investigate discrepancies.
  • Drive Consent Order Remediation Initiatives in accordance with the Wholesale CDD Standards and corporate policies.
  • Review Customer Due Diligence information for accuracy and investigate discrepancies.
  • Must have the ability to dissect complex organizational structures and CDD documentation, and perform deep dive investigations on customers that pose BSA/AML, Regulatory, or Reputational risk to the Wells Fargo.
  • Analyze potentially unusual activity, which will require the review of historical activity along with customer information.
  • Responsible for assisting with the implementation and monitoring of a risk-based compliance program to assure compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in and provides compliance support for projects and initiatives with low to high risk to identify, assess and mitigate BSA/AML risk in business activities.
  • Analyze risks on escalated, referred, or alerted negative news. Communicate negative findings to Wholesale business groups and provide recommendations.
  • Tasks require coordination of information among various operational areas and customer bases using multiple online systems.
  • Provide Financial Crimes guidance and escalation to LOB stakeholders for complex accounts and relationships.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: fraud, Bank Secrecy Act, anti money laundering, investigations of financial crimes transactions or policy violations, risk management, or compliance; or a BS/BA degree or higher in applied sciences, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or criminal justice, with 2+ years of experience in the foregoing
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge and understanding of Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations
  • Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) experience
  • Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional areas
  • Ability to work cohesively and collaborate with analytic functions throughout the organization
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to research and report on a variety of issues using problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial crimes investigation
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk assessment report creation
  • Project management experience
  • Good analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to track and monitor project progress, identify project and process gaps, recommend controls and communicate progress to business leaders
  • Strong, clear and concise written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, LiveMeeting and SharePoint) skills
Other Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with and working knowledge of BSA/AML programs including all aspects of KYC and / or other related risk and regulatory disciplines.
  • Have knowledge of On-boarding KYC customer processing or Financial Crimes Investigations experience strongly preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of CIP/CDD/EDD requirements.
  • WF AML/Sanctions Credential, ACAMS, CFE or CRCM designation.
  • Computer proficiency including databases, and an understanding of banking systems and software such as Cornerstone.
  • Bachelor s degree in business, finance or economics.
