Leadership and School Counseling - Graduate Education Faculty

join the School of Education to teach Leadership and School
Counseling courses on its graduate programs. These courses aim to
train principal and superintendent licensure candidates to
successfully employ and interact with school counselors and to
oversee school counseling programs in their school or district.
Required: Doctorate or terminal degree in Educational
Counseling or related field with specialized training or experience
in school counseling. Positive teaching and leadership experience
in K-12 education.
Preferred: Teaching experience in higher education. License in
School Counseling. License in School Administration. Experience in
school administration at the principal level or higher. Familiarity
with American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and its "Four
Essential Functions (partial
Provide quality evidence-based instruction to diverse
candidates in varied formats at the graduate level.
Demonstrate knowledge of content area.
Provide evidence of professional growth.
Conduct research within respective field.
Practice professional ethics, including ensuring fair treatment
of all candidates.
Provide guidance and counseling to the students which will
promote their welfare and their proper educational
Make accommodations, if known, for students with identified
Develop and implement new courses as needed.
Develop and implement syllabi that conform to the university
format and align with standards applicable to course, program, and
Fairly assess students' progress as outlined in the
Establish and maintain cooperative professional
Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with students,
peers, and community leaders.
Accept a share of responsibility for committee
Maintain records as required by the University.
Attend meetings as outlined in Oakland City University's
