Required Qualifications: All physicians must possess an active Arizona State license and update their DEA certificate with an Arizona address upon hire(there will be noconsideration made to applicants without these requirements).The physician must maintain privileges as a primary care physician at all times at SAVAHCS, Tucson, AZ. Physicians must be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine and maintain professional competency as indicated in their delineation of privileges. Minimum experience required is one year VA experience [within the previous four (4) years] and minimum of five (5) years primary care experience. All physicians with primary care privileges must maintain current BLS certification.
Duties of the physician:
Primary duty of the physician is to provide medical care at the Sierra Vista CBOC.
The physician will be assigned a panel of patients and will deliver care using the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model as the care delivery system. Panel size is determined by the facility using VHA standards. The provider will manage scheduled and unscheduled out-patients at SAVAHCS or Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
Alternative or collateral duties may include management of a subsection of primary care patients, the subsection may be defined either by a disease status (e.g. spinal cord injury patients), or demographic status (women veterans, OIF/OEF Veterans, employees etc.). Typically these duties are designated at the time of joining but occasionally during the course of employment, participation in organizational initiatives, such as familiarization with telemedicine for patient care at our rural clinics.
Physicians are expected to provide clinical oversight and support for and review care provided by mid-level practitioners.
Providers will act as surrogates for their colleagues, providing care for the colleague's patients during short term absences.
Typical work hours are Monday to Friday 0 but may include Saturday. Overtime is not authorized unless an emergency exists. Overtime must be approved in advance by the clinic director and/or Care Line Chief, or Contracting Officer Representative (COR) on a case-bycase basis with remuneration not to exceed the normal hourly rate.Time sheets must be initialed by the clinic director that specifically authorized the overtime prior to submitting them to the COR.Time sheets should be submit
