1. The contract will be awarded on an estimated hourly basis. VA will be contracting for the following:
Professional psychiatric diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of Veterans enrolled in the Lubbock Outpatient clinic.
Medication management for patients as required.
Provision psychotherapy or referral of patients to qualified mental health psychotherapists within the Lubbock Mental Health Clinic.
Work closely with the multidisciplinary treatment team to develop and continuously monitor the patients treatment plan.
Document in the patient record in a timely manner all aspects of the care provided to the patient and in a manner consistent with JCAHO standards and requirements of the VA and the Amarillo VA Health Care System.
2. Locum Tenens Psychiatrist treating VA patients shall be fully trained in their respective discipline as demonstrated by the following:
Possesses at least one full, active, current and unrestricted license in any State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia;
Psychiatrists will have completed a recognized residency program in Psychiatry and is preferred to be board eligible or board certified;
Has no physical limitation of other condition(s) that may adversely affect his/her ability to perform as required by his/her contract;
Has not had a loss, reduction, restriction or revocation of his/her clinical privileges at any institution due to disciplinary action;
Has not had a valid ruling of malpractice due to clinical incompetence; and
Is a member in good standing of, or has not had a loss of membership from, the medical staff at any institution for reasons of disciplinary action or clinical incompetence;
Has not been convicted of felony criminal charges and does not currently have pending felony criminal charges against him/her, and;
Undertakes the responsibility, in rendering services under this contract, to comply with all applicable State, Federal and local laws, rules and regulations, and the standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
Location: Services shall be performed at the Lubbock VA Outpatient Clinic, 6104 Avenue Q South Drive, Lubbock, TX 79412
Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS): All patient data, (history, evaluation, findings, recommendations, requests for laboratory and x-ray studies, etc.) shall be entered into the patient's chart electronically. The Pulmonary/Sleep Medicine physician shall have computer and typing skills commensurate with this requirement. Computer training and access shall be provided on the first day of service. Sharing of computer access codes is prohibited. The Pulmonary/Sleep Medicine physician will comply with all information security and privacy requirements as dictated by VA and PVAHCS policy and/or directive.
Work Hours: Tour of duty will be between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, five days per week.
Time Off: The locum physician will be present for duty
