Sodexo's universities segment has an immediate opening for an Executive Chef 3 / Area Chef for our premiere account located at Augustana University located in Sioux Falls, SD. Successful candidate w ill have over-site for all culinary on this large campus and also provide district support for five surrounding states! As our Executive Chef your focus will be on driving culinary excellence! Reporting to the General Manager and/or District Manager this position will oversee 1 salaried manager but will mentor up to 20 chefs in the district. Additional responsibilities will be managing high volume culinary operations to include resident dining, retail food and catering venues as well as supporting other locations in the region.

We are looking for someone with great communication and training skills. This is a high-level culinary management role, but will also be hands-on as needed to support operations. The position requires culinary innovation, as well as the ability to think both inside and outside the corporate structure to ensure that the university continues to be a culinary leader in our field.

Willingness to travel 25% is required!

Ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Currently in a leadership capacity with experience in large volume food operations background;
  • Experience in managing and developing teams;
  • Strong in financial acumen;
  • Strong operational and culinary skills with experience in high-end and high-volume off-site catering services;
  • Excellent client relationship and presentation skills;
  • Polished leadership skills to lead a large culinary team;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership abilities!
  • ACF certification, CEC certification and/or culinary graduate (desired but not required);

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a large sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training. Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution.

- Implements & coordinates the culinary function.
- Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.
- Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.
- Manages catering & retail areas.
- Customer & Client satisfaction.
- Financial management to include food cost & labor management.
- Manages food & physical safety programs.
