Nurse Specialist, Emergency Department

The Clinical Specialist serves as a clinical officer for patient care programs and services throughout the Emergency Department and Trauma Center by providing clinical and operational leadership support centered on improving outcomes. Provides clinical and analytical support to the nursing leadership to plan and predict patient care needs based on benchmarking, quality improvement patient acuity/care trends, staff clinical education needs and patient satisfaction. Provides leadership to ensure excellence in nursing research, education, and practice. The CNS provides clinical and leadership support to achieve the organizations mission of excellent patient care and nursings vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration. There are a total of 4 EDs and a total staff of 280. There are 6 other Clinical Specialists within the organization.
Masters degree in Nursing is required . DNP/Ph.D. preferred. National nursing board certification in specialty area required. Minimum of 3 years in advanced practice/leadership role in nursing services in acute care. Evidence of progressive leadership in performance improvement, outcomes management, and implementation/evaluation of evidence-based practice and research. Excellent interpersonal relationship skills. Demonstrable leadership in integrating programs that cross services, units, and disciplines and influence organizational mission of excellence in patient care and Nursings vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice, committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration.
