Director of Athletics Engagement - Office of Advancement

The Director of Athletics Engagement supports Hoya Athletics' priorities and sport-specific campaigns through volunteer management and engagement activities. S/he manages, partners and works with athletic volunteers, fans and friends to build an active and educated volunteer base to support our 750 student athletes and Hoya Athletics. Reporting to the Senior Director of Athletics,

  • Manages a portfolio of 20-75 volunteers for Hoya Athletics.
  • Plans and implements new strategies to engage and activate the Hoya Athletics' 19 volunteer boards.
  • Partners with the Athletics Annual Giving team to grow the base of support from alumni-student athletes, alumni, parents, former parents and friends by leveraging strategic events, targeted communications, and one-on-one gift solicitations.
  • Manages strategic event planning and execution for all of Georgetown Athletics signature events.
  • Supervises and manages the Associate Director of Athletics Engagement, the Associate Director of Athletics Communications.
  • Collaborates with Hoya Athletics' staff, senior staff, and major gift team members to develop strategies for supporting department priorities through events and sport-specific social channels, as well as communications that support engagement-related activities and opportunities.
  • Interacts with donors and other athletic alumni, parents, fans and friends, through participating in volunteer events and engagement, Hoya Athletics varsity sporting events, and University-led events and leadership opportunities.
  • Interacts regularly with key athletic volunteers through the management of the Hoyas Unlimited Board of Directors and the 19 volunteer support clubs; Hoya Athletics' staff members; with the Director of Athletics Annual Giving and other Advancement staff; and with the Office of the President to coordinate Presidential attendance at events and to construct briefings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 to 10 years of fundraising experience, with experience in athletics fundraising or engagement preferred
  • Availability and willing to work/attend frequent weekend and evening events they are required to be working or in attendance, and to travel 4 to 5 times yearly on a pre-set schedule
