While Basketball Operations runs the league's on-court activities, other departments manage relationships with television and digital media partners, develop marketing partnerships with some of the world's most recognizable companies, oversee the licensing of NBA merchandise, and handle a wide range of responsibilities that drive the NBA's success.

Position Summary:

As an International Customer Data Strategist, you will serve as the liaison between our international and NY offices to align global efforts around fan data and monetization opportunities. You will work close to the Customer Data Strategy (CDS) team and work well with other subgroups in the Marketing (ie: Event Strategy, Advertising, Research, Media) and other departments (ie: Digital proprieties, Mobile Strategy, etc). The goal is to help accomplishing one of the NBA's strategic goals of recruiting new fans while engaging and monetizing existing international fans. To accomplish this, you will represent the regions helping them identify and run multiple CDS needs globally.

Major Responsibility:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with the NBA's international colleagues across seven regions (Africa, Asia, Canada, China, EME, India, Latin America)
  • Work cross functionally with NY-based CDS team and our international Marketing teams to ensure regional fan acquisition and engagement efforts align with global strategies and goals
  • Ensure that fan data capture and activation is part of every regions' marketing plan
  • Develop deep knowledge of the NBA fanbase and various fan segments in each region to help drive marketing campaigns and tactics
  • Create and manage a calendar to identify regional initiatives and events where audience development, data capture and supporting marketing (email, social, paid) should be incorporated
  • Develop innovative data capture solutions for events/initiatives in conjunction with the regions
  • Help define measurable goals for each regional campaign and initiative as it related to CDS
  • Partner with the CDS and regional teams to conduct post-marketing campaign analysis
  • Understand regional goals and objectives for each International League Pass (ILP) campaign and identify regional nuances around product promotion
  • Assist in asset localization efforts and delivery of assets for our global League Pass campaign
  • Understand regional League Pass budgets and ensure media plans complement local spends
  • Manage reporting on regional marketing efforts that support our global media partners

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Understanding of international markets and various cultures 3+ years of experience in international marketing, digital marketing and/or performance marketing
  • Knowledge of marketing technology tools (ESP, DMP, DSP, etc) and delivery channels
  • Exceptional project management skills; detail oriented Strong written and verbal communication skills and great attention to detail
  • Ability to work in collaborative environments Strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
