Job Description

The Employee Relations Specialist will work closely with business leaders and the human resources team to provide strategic human resources counsel to the NFL League Office. This individual will be responsible for managing employee relations issues and implementing and overseeing workplace investigations on the East Coast.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Delivers and assesses HR projects and programs and measures performance to ensure alignment to best market practices and recommend improvements; implements strategic corporate and HR strategies and delivery and talent planning for a function or local market
  • Serves as the first point of contact for all regional HR inquiries; manages and resolves complex employee relations issues; conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to department staff and managers (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions); coordinates the performance review process to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization; partners with senior management and builds and nurtures relationships with key internal stakeholders to facilitate HR partnerships, advisor ships, communication, and market practice alignment
  • Partners with management to ensure a successful performance management process and a successful change management delivery; maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning; delivers communication strategies for talent planning, organizational diagnosis and change-management processes
  • Directs a team, conducts goal setting and performance appraisal processes to prioritize and align with overall company and function wide goals and objectives, coaches talent, and serves as an organizational resource


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and ten (10) years of HR experience with an emphasis on providing day-to-day advice as well conducting internal investigations and resolving complex employee relations issues in a confidential manner.
  • Prior employee relations or labor relations experience is required.
  • Proven ability to partner with leaders at all levels to provide effective and strategic employee relations counsel.
  • Working knowledge of NY state employment laws
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information
  • High attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines
