Job Description
The Director of Sports Nutrition oversees the provision of nutrition-related services to Division I student-athletes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Assesses and analyzes dietary practices, body composition, and energy balance (intake and expenditure) of student-athletes in the context of athletic performance and health. - Counsels athletes on optimal nutrition for exercise training, competition, recovery, weight management, hydration, immunity, disordered eating, travel, and supplementation. - Develops and delivers nutrition education presentations, demonstrations, and events on various topics related to nutrition for performance. Develops fact sheets, emails, social media content, web videos, bulletin boards, tabletop cards, etc. as needed. - Coordinates use of body composition analysis systems, such as DEXA and BodPod. - Coordinates use of Red Card/ Camp App program for student-athletes. - Documents nutrition services provided and evaluates the effectiveness of nutrition strategies towards meeting desired outcomes. - Collaborates with athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, and team physicians to research, evaluate, recommend, purchase, distribute and monitor permissible and effective nutritional supplements within NCAA rules. - Conducts nutritional assessments and counseling for student-athletes with clinical nutritional needs, such as eating disorders, IBS, Celiac disease, Crohn's disease, food allergies, and diabetes. - Supervises the Fueling Stations for pre- and post- workout/practice nutritional needs. - Works with members of all coaching staffs, behavioral health providers, the strength and conditioning staff, the athletic training staff, and related student-athlete service providers to ensure a collaborative and comprehensive approach to training, nutrition, and recovery, as well as aiding in the treatment of diet and nutrition-related medical issues. - Coordinates/manages quantity food production and distribution, such as developing and managing training table menus and catering in conjunction with Aramark personnel. - Present in the cafeteria on a regular basis as a resource to the chef and to assist with healthy decision-making for student-athletes. Provides accurate nutrition facts on menu items (in compliance with regulations governing Aramark). - Works with directors of operations to coordinate nutrition for domestic and/or international travel, as appropriate. - Develops and oversees nutrition policies and procedures. - Develops and oversees budget for sports nutrition department.

Professional Development - Maintains dietetic registration and continuing education requirements. - Develops and implements an individualized portfolio plan for professional growth and development including participation in professional organizations and activities, workshops, seminars, and development programs. - Stays abreast of current food, nutrition, and health issues and research-related to sports nutrition.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:Must be a registered dietitian or registered dietitian nutritionist and eligible for licensure in the State of Mississippi. Bachelor's degree in Clinical Nutrition, Food and Nutrition, or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in nutrition, exercise science, or related field. Prefer minimum 3 years of experience in collegiate sports nutrition. Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD).
