Essential Functions: We are looking for an enthusiastic Group Sales Intern to provide support to our management team excellent customer service to our patrons. A Group Sales Intern assists Groups Sales Managers and Director of Group Sales in the day-to-day operation of the Group Sales Department. The ideal candidate will be able to learn quickly and function in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Responsibilities: -Ability to maintain a neat, clean & professional appearance -Ability to work in a high paced environment -Electronic and computer proficiency -Excellent customer service while maintaining the highest standards of quality and cleanliness -High attention to detail -Strong communication and problem solving skills Duties: -Answering phones and communicating game progress -Assist in creating routines for promotional entertainment -Assisting the group sales department daily -Assisting with special group events such as scout nights, school and kids days, church nights, youth baseball clinics, Field of Dreams, birthday and team parties, etc. -Assisting with tarp pulls when necessary -Assuring proper signage for group areas is correct and in place each day -Daily set-up of all group hospitality areas -Delivering pocket schedules -Distribute promotional items designed to help increase fan spirit and attendance at games -Interact with fans before, during and after the games -Keeping upbeat atmosphere before, during and after games -Maintain mascot costume -Mascoting - fan entertainment -Occasional mascot/player appearances, participation in promotions including on-field activities and enter/exit gate sampling, and distribution of marketing material -Other duties as assigned -Perform as mascot at home games as needed -Perform as mascot in community events around the Birmingham region as scheduled -Perform on the dugout during the 7th inning stretch -Personally interact with fans and patrons you encounter -Processing payment by phone order -Representing organization in the community -Scheduling parties and confirming details and logistics Qualifications: -Ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple tasks -Ability to work effectively in a team environment -Flexibility to work long days, evenings, weekends, and holidays -Must be able to problem solve quickly, work efficiently in an intense environment -Previous sports experience a plus, but not required -Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented -Some heavy lifting is required General Physical Requirements: -Ability to lift 25 lbs up to 50 lbs -Ability to stand for up to 5+ hours during a game -Ability to work long hours, weekends & holidays -Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, including but not limited to rain and heat Company Description: The Birmingham Barons are the proud Double-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
