Design and Project Management
Develop conceptual designs and budgets at the request of the Director of Design and Construction to provide budget information to departments for small to medium size projectsOversee small to medium size renovation projects stemming from user requests that are too complex for Facilities OperationsImplement capital renewal projects that require advanced and complex project management skillsOversee large scale energy conservation projects
Assessment and Documentation
Develop and implement process to assess the physical condition of the campus's facilities and predict capital reinvestment requirement according to various time horizonsWork with Facilities Operations trades supervisors and various consultants to facilitate the inspections, projection of need, and cost estimates for the required capital reinvestment projectsDocument the facility conditions in a dynamic and fluid database that responds to renewal projects implemented and the ever changing condition of college facility conditionUse the database to perform sensitivity analysis that predict the college's net asset value over time for various levels of capital funding
Collaborate with project managers within Design and Construction to identify opportunities and strategies for how projects can be shaped to address capital renewal needsWork with the Energy Manager to identify how projects can optimally address capital renewal and achieve energy reductionsWork with the Director of Facilities Operations (DOFO) to prepare capital budget requests for routine renewal as well as one-time capital renewal projectsWork with the DOFO and shop supervisors to provide guidance on the routine renewal projects that they implement and ensure that they are properly documented in the facility condition database
Budgeting and Finance
Prepare budget submittals for the capital budget process in cooperation with the Director of Campus Operations FinanceTrack project expenditures via the job cost management systemProvide periodic updates on budget status for projects
Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture, or related fieldAn acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check10 years of project management experience in a facilities organization or closely related business.Strong background with legal contact language especially negotiating terms, applying appropriate contract forms per project criteria, extra-contract legal understanding (labor, union, etc.)Ability to read, understand, interpret formulate plans specifications and cost estimatesKnowledge or experience in developing and tracking budgetsStrong verbal and written communication, and collaboration skillsBackground with codes and permitting processesStrong problem solving skillsExperience managing design and construction consultants and contractorsStrong organizational skills to be able to conceptualize and design a complex programExperience with and commitment to working with a diverse community
