As a Resident Therapist, you will learn the ways of Cirque du Soleil as you demonstrate and deliver Performance Medicine department services, while reporting functionally and operationally to the Senior Head Therapist of Performance Medicine (Resident shows). In this pivital role, the Performance Medicine Resident Therapist will:
· Understand and respect all arrangements and agreements made between Cirque du Soleil and other medical authorities and institutions; · Support multiple Cirque du Soleil shows · Under the guidance of the Performance Medicine staff, learn each department's daily operational needs and help ensure these needs are met while delivering the highest possible standard of care; · Adhere to the direction of and support communication with Performance Medicine Team and Artistic Directors; · Maintain a high level of professionalism and ethics with co-workers, artists, and other health care professionals; · Learn policies and procedures to facilitate advancement of understanding of departmental governance; · Integrate with the members of the artistic team to prepare to contribute to functional decision making processes. Clinical/Operational:
· Understand and demonstrate proficiency in technical skills in order to provide services within your scope of practice. Once proficient, you will provide physical evaluations, rehabilitative and emergency care relevant to the environment and functional demand of our artists (clinical diagnosis, therapeutic care and emergency response); · As assigned, provide timely and safe emergency response and care for show support. Maintain the emergency preparedness of the environment as determined by Performance Medicine staff; · Consistently document and manage all medical interactions, information and events as per medico-legal requirements, while upholding Artist-Therapist confidentiality at all times; · Observe and learn departmental collaboration with Coaches and Performance Medicine staff to develop and implement corrective exercise programs; · Accompany artists to medical appointments to support injury and claim management, foster relationships with external medical providers, · Review plans of care with Performance Medicine staff in order to learn how to establish the functional status of an artist. Understand integration/re-integration plans, monitoring workload, and act-specific rehabilitation. · As directed, ensure appropriate worker's compensation information, forms and reports are completed; · Ensure that the workspace is professionally organized and maintained; · Administratively support the Performance Medicine department operations. Ideally, you will have:
· Master's degree (minimum requirement) in Physical Therapy or Athletic Training; · Valid CPR certification. First Responder certification preferred; · 2-4 years of clinical experience post graduation; · Fluency in English; · Experience with manual therapy, exercise therapy and emergency care; · Ability to work and communicate with medical and paramedical professionals; · Adaptability to working with different cultures and multiple environments; · Good computer skills.
