Job Description

The six-month temporary position works with the Player Personnel staff to monitor club compliance with the NFL Constitution & Bylaws, the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and other League rules designed to preserve and enhance the competitive aspects and integrity of the game. Department staff communicate with Club and League office executives, and college players and administrators to provide guidance and education about these rules to ensure compliance and promote competitive fairness.

A successful candidate should have knowledge of the League's member clubs and a career interest in football operations, player personnel/scouting, or labor operations. Experience in a college's compliance office, a professional sports organization's player personnel department, or with player eligibility rules is preferred. The position is clerical, with duties such as data input and analysis, managing documents, document retention, and handling of sometimes challenging phone conversations. Candidates should be comfortable communicating and assisting with the enforcement of League policy. Additionally, candidates should enjoy working with data, and must be reliable, organized, detail-oriented, innovative, and have good communication skills.

Roles & Responsibilities

The position works closely with the Player Personnel staff to:
  • Maintain player personal, transactional, and contractual records;
  • Prepare daily personnel notice and memoranda.
  • Monitor club paperwork to ensure it is filed in compliance with League rules;
  • Research and verify player eligibility.
  • Assist with salary cap reconciliation process.
  • Communicate with club personnel and other parties regarding League rules.
  • Assist with compliance issues ( e.g. , injury report, practice video, spot-checkers, independent physicians, work rules, and reserve list.)
  • Support the department's Non-Player responsibilities ( e.g. , transactions, contracts, diversity reports, salary analysis, interview compliance and reports.)
  • Support the department's Committee responsibilities by preparing discussion items, bylaw proposals, and reports ( e.g. , Competition Committee, General Managers Advisory Committee, Career Development Advisory Committee, College Relations, etc.)
  • Assist with various programs ( e.g. , Video Interviews and Player Assessment Test.)
  • Coordinate department's document retention plan and organize department's files.
  • Assist with administrative projects ( e.g. , Player Personnel Handbook, Operational Manual, CBA Preparations.)
  • Assist with other miscellaneous projects.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • General understanding of NCAA compliance rules and NFL eligibility rules.
  • Knowledge of NFL clubs and primary football front office personnel.
  • Familiarity with the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement
