Want to join our Easton team as a Category Manager - Bats? Easton Baseball/Softball is a leading developer and manufacturer of baseball and softball bats, batting and fielding gloves, apparel, bags, helmets, catcher's protective equipment and related accessories in the U.S. and Canada. As the Category Manager - Bats, you will be responsible for the following: -Define and capture plans for all bat categories in-line with company business goals and objectives -Own and define a clear yearly line plan that’s driven by the business plan -Define and own a 5-year plan for all bat categories. Focusing on short term & long term objectives with cross-functional teams -Define specific needs and goals for the bat business â€" then work with cross-functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Design, Engineering, Manufacturing) to deliver on those needs and goals -A deep understanding of the certification process for all bat categories. Own the relationship with all of the governing bodies in baseball/softball, such as USA Baseball. -Attend necessary industry meetings to have a full understanding of any rule changes and the certification needs for all bat categories -Set clear benchmarks within each bat category. Understand the competitive landscape. -Perform market research and market validation studies with Athletes, Consumers and Sales Channels -Work with engineering team to establish and drive internal product testing protocols on Field and in Lab. -Own the relationship and lines of communication with our bat vendors in Asia -Drive cost improvement initiatives to deliver products on target, or better -Create captivating, informative, clear presentations of the product line -Present the product line to internal teams, International Sales Team and to Key Accounts -Understand the needs of the category by connecting with various perspectives â€" Understand Sales needs, Planning needs, R&D capability, Manufacturing capability, schedules etc. -Drive product innovation and “Best in class” thinking -Be in the know on new material research, costing, materials, QC implementation, and product development. -Lead, manage and drive all aspects of meeting organization, communication, decision making, and information pertaining to projects, including project planning, BOM management, data integrity, and involvement of functional team members. -Proactively anticipate and expose potential challenges during the product creation process, lead and drive the team to consensus utilizing critical thinking, fact-based decision making, and an expert level of problem-solving skills in order to provide options, recommendations, and ultimately resolution. -Actively influence and engage with the functional and extended product creation team members to ensure that engineering and category best practices are utilized to achieve product performance goals, athlete, and consumer requirements. -Ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively with various functional teams -Ability to work multiple projects within a fast-paced stage-gate environment Requirements: -BA or BS degree with 5+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Marketing or Product Development in a sports-related industry -Fundamental knowledge of the industry and sport is a must -Business acumen -Marketing know-how and Social media landscape knowledge -Patents, royalties and basic manufacturing processes -Strong process and project management experience -Ability to travel up to 8 to 10 weeks per year internationally & domestically -Experience with software programs (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) -Must be detail orientated with the ability to meet deadlines -Proven ability to effectively manage time and work on multiple projects -Strong verbal and written communication skills
