This full-time position is responsible for facilitating all day-to-day Communications requests surrounding Real Salt Lake's NWSL club, Utah Royals FC. Media Manager will be responsible for identifying and developing individual, group and Club-wide storylines connecting Royals, RSL, Monarchs, Academy and related properties for external and internal consumption, with targeted implementation strategies for various outlets and potential stakeholders. Media Manager will work closely with entire Communications & Broadcasting department - along with other Club divisions - to develop overall strategy and execute organizational objectives. Manager will also be responsible for maintaining positive relationships with players, coaches, personalities and local/national/international media outlets, on behalf of the Club and facilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following list of functions is descriptive of the work to be performed but it should not be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, functions or tasks that the job may require.
  • Serve as the primary contact with Utah Royals FC players, coaches and other personnel for both internal and external social/digital/mainstream media requests, including Club, League broadcast mandates
  • Update weekly biographical, statistical and record information for weekly game notes and on the Royals portion of RSL.com
  • Write and edit all player/coach/executive bios for Utah Royals FC for League, Club and broadcast use as needed
  • Assist in the media operations - credentials, parking passes, photo bibs, meal service, RSVPs, seating charts, etc. - for all events at both ZBRA and Rio Tinto Stadium facilities, including but not limited to Royals, RSL, Monarchs, Academy and other events
  • Utilize Associated Press style for writing/editing responsibilities across all platforms
  • Maintain a solid understanding of Royals, RSL, Monarchs, Academy and NWSL/MLS/USL soccer and their histories
  • Work closely with Team Staff, Marketing, Ticket Sales, Partnership Services, Operations and all Club departments to ensure that messaging is utilized in support of fulfilling Organizational goals
  • Special Projects or other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required (Communications or Public Relations preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years work experience
  • Fluency in a foreign language is strongly preferred
  • Strong soccer knowledge, including history of the sport globally/in Utah
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office products
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
