Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. : The Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance will be responsible for the oversight of Intercollegiate Athletics compliance with NCAA and OVC rules and regulations. This position will require a working knowledge of NCAA rules and policies. The incumbent will be responsible for providing educational rules sessions for coaches and staff in the Athletic Department to keep them informed and updated on existing and current rules and policies. The Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance may supervise staff including assistants, graduate assistants, and interns. The Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance will remain current with and uphold the rules of the University, the NCAA, conferences of which EIU is a member. Monitor all areas of rules compliance. Serve as expert resource and provide interpretations to student-athletes, coaches, staff and the University community regarding NCAA and conference rules. Coordinate initial eligibility and amateurism clearance with the NCAA Eligibility Center for current and prospective S-A's. Supervise and monitor the recruiting activities for department's 21 varsity sports and coaches. Approve official and unofficial visits for prospective S-A's. Monitor and enforce all playing and practice seasons. Maintain the budget and disbursement of Athletic Aid and Foundation Awards. Utilize CAi as a student-athlete database to maintain squad lists. Monitor and enforce NCAA/OVC compliance for outside competition, S-A employment, promotional activities and summer camps. Coordinate with AD in required NCAA reporting. Coordinate with FAR in preparation of medical, initial eligibility, APR, satisfactory progress and SLR waivers. The incumbent will serve as a member of the Athletic Department's Senior Staff.
Bachelor's degree in related field required; Master's degree preferred, minimum 3 years' experience at Division 1 level in NCAA compliance. A strong understanding of the rules and regulations associated with the NCAA and OVC programs. Experience working efficiently with student-athletes, coaches, and staff regarding compliance issues. Working knowledge of JumpForward and Banner preferred. Experience with financial aid is preferred. Experience with CAi database is required. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills are required. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience with promoting inclusive excellence is required.
