Summary This position is a student laboratory technician position performing material testing on flat rolled steel products in support of production certifications, product development, investigative efforts, and reverse engineering of products. This position has led to full-time employment opportunities for multiple Materials Science & Engineering students upon completion of their degrees. We have opportunities for year-round technicians in the Columbus area to work a minimum of 10 hours during the school year and 35-40 hours expected during the summer and winter breaks. Flexible scheduling around classes during the school year. This position has potential for participation in our 12-week Summer Internship Program where interns will spend part of their time completing a business-driven project. Responsibilities Perform metallurgical tests specified by the Technical Service Managers and production Quality Control. Mechanical property testing Metallographic testing Spectrometric chemical analyses Responsible for data integrity and shipment certifications. Complete investigative projects assigned by the metallurgical engineering staff pertaining to flat rolled steel products and processes (i.e. DOE, data collection, testing, analyses, reporting). Desired Experience Current student making progress toward a B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering, with expected graduation in 2020 or beyond. Above average written, verbal and communication abilities. Above average analytical skills and mechanical aptitude. Detail oriented. Personable and works well with others.
