Position Summary:
We are looking for energetic engineering students who want to advance their hardware engineering capabilities and be part of a collaborative team that loves innovation.

The position of Hardware Engineering Intern within Rockwell Automation is a high energy, team-oriented and educational hardware engineering position. Students will be exposed to microcontroller-based product designs for industrial automation that can be comprised of high speed digital design, serial communication interfaces and power supplies.
As an intern you are an essential part of the hardware team and work hand in hand with professional hardware engineers. A senior-level mentor will be assigned to support your professional growth as a hardware engineer and to ease the transition into the professional work environment.

If you want to become well versed in proven embedded hardware techniques and become comfortable in a professional software development environment then this is the place for you. You can expect progressively challenging assignments with each term at Rockwell.

Our goal is to prepare students to compete for an entry-level software positions upon graduation.

You will participate in one or more of the following assignments:

  • Assist with testing product prototypes using high speed oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DVM's, and other lab equipment
  • Set-up and execute EMC, environmental, QTP testing
  • Log and analyze test results
  • Write simple test diagnostics
  • Develop test routines using Ladder programs
  • Assist with component evaluation and selection
  • Assist with the management of hardware design artifacts using RA's PLM software and change management process;
  • Perform circuit simulation and design
  • Perform schematic creation and printed circuit board design

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Minimum Qualifications:

  • College sophomore level or above; studying electrical engineering, computer science, software engineering or computer engineering at an accredited 4 year college or university.
  • Education with emphasis in practical circuit design and electronics including microcontrollers
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

  • Comfortable working independently as well as in a team environment
  • Practical lab experience (scopes and meters)
